Why is it not possible to use Scripts generated within Photoshop itself (that is, from the Copy to JavaScript command) directly in the CR 2 Script Editor?

hello Thomas, I recorded an Action, using the same steps as you've included in your demo. Then I used the Copy to JavaScript command in Photoshop. Finally I copied and pasted the Photoshop output into the Script Editor. The overall result is shown in this screenshot.

JLS With the Copy as JavaScript command you will get a UXP script. So in the Script Editor you need to select UXP (instead of ExtendScript) run it as a UXP script.
